THE BLACKHEART GANG/SHY THE SUN
South African-based art collective The Blackheart Gang and sister studio Shy the Sun are, in many ways, two sides of the same brilliant coin. Two members of The Blackheart Gang (Jannes and Ree) founded Shy the Sun with Nina Pfeiffer to work predominately on commercial projects, while The Blackheart Gang remains largely a vehicle for self-initiated projects.
Collectively, the two entities create magical, mysterious projects that are beautifully complex and impossible to pigeonhole. Mischievous dreamers and adroit artists, the members of both groups approach themselves and their work with a refreshing playfulness that’s as charming as it is disarming.
